Nanaimo Youth Advisory Council 

YAC - Established in August 2017, the Council is made of twelve youth in or from care of the Ministry. The Council has three key objectives; a) Peer Support, b) Systemic Change and c) Sustainability of the Council. Youth are welcome to join the numerous activities hosted by YAC.

Gathering Our Voices

Gathering Our Voices (GOV) - a group of 18, including 13 youth, our Elder in Residence and chaperons attended for the first time in March 2018. The Indigenous youth leadership conference brings together 1000 youth to participate in social, leadership and cultural activities.

Youth Leading Reconciliation 

Youth Leading Reconciliation (YLR) - an annual November event that began in 2016. Hosted by NAC and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Vancouver Island. A day of conversation, social and cultural activities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.

Youth Housing

Youth Housing - NAC's Nuutsumuut Lelum housing facility includes four bachelor units for youth transitioning from in-care to independent living. The youth units are located among 21 other affordable housing units that support culture, education and community.
